3 things the chart shows

Every pair, even 22, is a favorite

The weakest pocket pair, 22, still wins 50.3%. All 13 pairs beat one random hand at least half the time.

Suited is worth a little, not a lot

AKs 67.0% vs AKo 65.3%; 72s 38.2% vs 72o 34.6%. The extra equity comes only from the chance of making a flush.

Heads-up, the worst hand is 32o, not 72o

72o, famous as the worst hand in poker, ranks 165 of 169 against one opponent (34.6%). Last place goes to 32o (32.3%). Against 5 and 8 opponents, though, 72o does finish last: a 7 and a 2 are too far apart to make a straight together.

What is the best starting hand in Texas Hold'em?
AA. It wins 85.2% against one random hand and stays number one at every table size in this chart, at 34.7% against 8 opponents. The chart above ranks all 169 starting hands, so you can see where every other hand falls.
How is the equity calculated?
Heads-up numbers are exact. For every pair of starting hands, all 1,712,304 five-card boards from the remaining 48 cards are enumerated, and ties count as half a win. Numbers against 2 or more opponents come from 1 to 2 million simulated deals of random opponent hands, so the first decimal can move by about ±0.1.
How does equity change with more opponents?
Every hand loses equity, and the rankings shift. AA wins 85.2% against one opponent, 63.8% against 3, and 34.7% against 8. Suited connectors like T9s move the other way in the rankings: 64th heads-up, but 23rd against 8 opponents. Use the Opponents switch above the chart to compare.
Should I play every hand with more than 50% equity?
No. This chart shows all-in equity against random hands, but in a real game the players who stay in hold stronger hands than random. Which hands to play depends on your seat and the action in front of you, so check the preflop range chart for each spot.
How much better are suited hands than offsuit?
With the same two ranks, the suited version wins 2.8 percentage points more on average. That is the value of the flush draw, and it is smaller than most players expect.
