What is equity?

In poker, equity is the probability that a hand wins given the current cards, board, and opponents' hands as remaining cards are dealt. For example, AKs vs 22 is roughly even preflop, and equity shifts as the board develops. It is a basic way to compare hand strength with numbers, not just feel.

How to use

Tap to select each player's hole cards (2). You can add up to 6 players.
Optionally set the board: flop (3), turn (4th), or river (5th). Leave empty for preflop equity.
Once enough cards are set, calculation runs automatically and shows each hand's equity and tie rate.

Calculation tips

The board must be 0 cards (preflop), 3 (flop), 4 (turn), or 5 (river).
The same card cannot be used more than once across hands and the board.

Poker win rate (equity) reference

Equity shifts with every situation, but knowing the win rates for common matchups makes in-game decisions much faster. Here we cover ballpark figures for preflop all-ins plus a flop draw-vs-made-hand example. Check the calculator above anytime for exact numbers.

Example 1: AKs vs QQ (preflop)

When AKs (suited) and QQ go all-in preflop, equity runs about 46% to 54%. QQ is a slight favorite, but it's close to a “coin flip” — AK takes the lead if the board brings an A or K, or if it completes a flush or straight.

Example 2: Flush draw vs top pair (flop)

When a flush draw (9 outs) faces top pair on the flop, its equity to the river is roughly 35% to 65%. If the draw also has overcard or straight outs, that can climb to around 38–45%.
