Basic Definition

A 4bet (re-re-raise) in poker refers to making an additional raise in response to a 3bet (re-raise) during a series of raise actions.

Specific Situation

  • In the pre-flop, the UTG (Under the Gun) opened with a raise to 2BB, the BTN then 3-bet to 7BB, and the BB made a cold 4-bet to 20BB.
  • In the pre-flop, the HJ opened with 2.5BB, the CO 3-bet to 8BB, and then the HJ 4-bet to 22BB.

Important Information

  • A 4-bet is usually made with a very strong hand (e.g., AsAd or KdKh), but it can also be used as a bluff (4-bet bluff).
  • When making a 4-bet, the SPR becomes smaller, and it's necessary to consider stack sizes and your opponent's range more carefully. The risk is particularly higher in deep stack situations.
