Backdoor
Basic Definition
A backdoor in poker refers to a draw that is completed by hitting specific cards on both the turn and the river. This term is typically used when there is no direct draw at the time of the flop.
Specific Situation
- When the flop is A72 and your hole cards are K6, there is a possibility of completing a backdoor spade flush. You need to draw spades on both the turn and the river.
- When the flop is 832 and your hand is T9, there is a possibility of completing a straight with a backdoor draw.
Important Information
- The possibility of a backdoor is low, but including it in the calculation of outs helps in considering an accurate winning percentage.
- The backdoor has the advantage of making it easier to fight later on by developing a draw on the turn.
Examples of Term Usage
"It looks weak on the flop, but there's a possibility of a backdoor flush, so let's call here."
