Betting round

★★★Bet round

Basic Definition

A betting round in poker refers to a sequence where each player takes turns performing actions such as betting, calling, raising, or folding. Typically, one betting round occurs during each game phase: pre-flop, flop, turn, and river.

Specific Situation

In the pre-flop, actions are taken in order starting with the player to the left of the big blind, and the betting round ends once everyone has completed their action.

After the flop, the action starts from the position of the small blind or the player to the left of the dealer button, and once everyone has completed their action, it moves to the next phase.

Important Information

In the betting round, play does not proceed until everyone has either put in the same amount of chips or folded. This rule is in place to maintain fairness in the pot.

Actions during a betting round (check, bet, raise, call, fold) are crucial elements that indicate a player's strategy and the strength of their hand.

Examples of Term Usage

"Everyone checked during the betting round on the flop, so the next card was dealt immediately."
