Cash out

☆☆

Basic Definition

Cash out is a term in poker that primarily has two meanings. One is exchanging the chips you currently hold in a cash game for money, and the other is leaving a cash game and ending your play.

Specific Situation

  • A player decides to cash out their chips in a cash game after increasing their stack, thinking, "I want to secure my profits without playing any further," and asks the casino staff to convert the chips into cash.
  • Feeling tired after playing a long cash game, I decided to cash out and take a break.

Important Information

  • Cash out is only possible in cash games and is not typically done in tournaments (in tournaments, chips are used only within the game and cannot be converted to cash).
  • At some casinos, fees may be charged when cashing out. It's important to check the rules in advance.

Examples of Term Usage

"I've earned about this much today, so maybe it's time to cash out and head home."
