Connect Board

Basic Definition

A connect board refers to a situation where consecutive or nearly consecutive numbered cards are lined up on the board (community cards). In such a board, it becomes easier for straights or straight draws to form.

Specific Situation

  • When the flop is 89T, this board is a connected board. In this situation, hands like QJ or J7 complete a straight.
  • When the board up to the turn is 5679, there is a high possibility of completing a straight, and a player holding an 8 has completed a strong hand.

Important Information

  • On a connected board, multiple players may have strong hands, requiring strategic play. In particular, you need to be wary of straights and straight draws.
  • If your opponent's bet or raise size is large, be careful when estimating the value of your hand before calling, or it could lead to significant losses.

Examples of Term Usage

"Since the flop was a connected board, I held back on raising to be cautious of the opponent's straight."
