Connector
Basic Definition
Connectors refer to a pair of cards dealt to a player that have consecutive ranks (numbers). For example, combinations like 89 or TJ are considered connectors. These hands are sometimes regarded as having relatively high potential because they can easily form a straight.
Specific Situation
- When you have connectors 78 in your hand, a flop of 965 will complete a straight.
- When your hole cards are TJ connectors and the flop comes Q92, you have an open-ended straight draw.
Important Information
- Connectors are even more powerful when they are suited, as they allow you to aim for both a flush and a straight, expanding your range of playable hands.
- The value of connectors changes depending on your position. If you're in a bad position, you should play cautiously.
Examples of Term Usage
"Depending on the flop, this connector might lead to a situation where you can aim for a big pot."
