Crack
Basic Definition
In poker, "crack" refers to defeating a strong hand with a weak one. It is especially used in situations where a premium hand (e.g., AA) is unexpectedly beaten.
Specific Situation
- If you have 66 and the flop comes 684, you can crack an opponent's pair of aces AA with a set.
- If you have 75 and the flop comes 689, you can crack your opponent's KK with a straight.
Important Information
- The player at risk of being cracked must remain vigilant, even with a premium hand, and carefully analyze the board's development and the opponent's actions.
- The side attempting to crack has the potential to beat a strong hand, so it's worth playing even a slightly weaker hand in the right situation. However, reckless chasing is prohibited.
Examples of Term Usage
"On the flop, I completed a three of a kind and cracked my opponent's AA to win a big pot."
