Delayed CB

☆☆DCB

Basic Definition

A delayed continuation bet (delayed CB) refers to a strategy where the pre-flop aggressor chooses to check on the flop and then bets on the turn or river. Unlike a regular continuation bet (CB), which is made on the flop, a delayed CB is characterized by being made on a later street.

Specific Situation

  • The flop comes As7d2h. After raising pre-flop, I check on the flop. Then, when the turn brings Kh and my opponent checks again, I bet.

Important Information

  • By using a delayed continuation bet, you can make your opponent think your hand is weak, increasing the likelihood of extracting value when you bet on later streets.

Examples of Term Usage

"I checked on the flop, but since my opponent checked again on the turn, I decided to try a delayed continuation bet."
