Double Belly Buster

Basic Definition

A double belly buster is a type of straight draw where completing the straight requires drawing one of two different ranked cards. It is sometimes also called a double inside straight draw, and the chances of completing it are higher than a regular inside straight draw. It is also referred to as a double belly buster.

Specific Situation

  • With a flop of 852 and a hand of 46, drawing a 3 or 7 will complete a straight. This situation is called a double belly buster.

Important Information

  • A double belly buster has 8 outs, which is better than a regular gutshot (4 outs), but it doesn't necessarily mean the outs will give you the nuts. You need to play while considering your opponent's hand as well.

Examples of Term Usage

"Since I got a double belly on this flop, it's worth calling if I can see the turn."
