Final table

★★FT

Basic Definition

A final table refers to the table in a poker tournament where the last remaining players gather. Typically, depending on the size of the tournament, 6 to 10 players remain to compete for the championship.

Specific Situation

  • In a tournament where the maximum number of players per table is nine, the final table is formed when there are nine players remaining.

Important Information

  • At the final table, the prize money significantly increases, so strategies may differ from the early and middle stages. It's especially important to understand the theory of prize distribution known as the "Independent Chip Model" (ICM).
  • When there is a large difference in stack sizes among players, the chip leader (the player with the most chips) may frequently go all-in to put pressure on the other players.

Examples of Term Usage

"I made it to the final table, but since I was the short stack, I busted out quickly."
