Flush
Basic Definition
A flush in poker refers to a hand where you have five cards of the same suit (spades, hearts, diamonds, or clubs). This hand is stronger than a straight but weaker than a full house.
Specific Situation
- With a hand of A5 and a board of K83J2, you complete a spade flush.
- With a flop of 972 and a hand of KT, you have a heart flush draw (one card away from completing a flush), and you will complete it if a heart appears on the turn or river.
Important Information
- The strength of a flush is determined by the highest-ranked card (the kicker). In the case of two flushes, the one with the higher kicker wins.
- When there are many cards of the same suit on the board, there's a higher chance that your opponent has also completed a flush, so you need to play carefully.
Examples of Term Usage
"On the turn, I completed a flush, so I reraised against my opponent's bet."
