Freeze-out

☆☆freezeout

Basic Definition

A freeze-out refers to a tournament format where once a player is eliminated, they cannot re-enter by paying the entry fee again. Each player is out of the tournament when they run out of the chips initially given to them.

Specific Situation

  • You participate in a freezeout tournament and receive chips at the start. If you run out of chips, even in the early stages, the game ends for you immediately.
  • In free-entry tournaments (freerolls), the format is usually freezeout.

Important Information

  • In a freezeout format, many players tend to avoid aggressive play because once they are eliminated, they cannot re-enter.

Examples of Term Usage

"In freezeout tournaments, many players tend to play tight, so you should bluff a lot."
