HUD

Basic Definition

A HUD (Heads-Up Display) is a tool used in poker that displays statistical information about opponents in real-time. This allows players to understand their opponents' play styles and tendencies, enabling them to develop strategies.

Specific Situation

  • If an opponent's "VPIP" (the percentage of times they voluntarily put money into the pot pre-flop) is high, they are likely a loose player and often participate without strong hands. You can use this to your advantage by employing a strategy of bluffing at the right moments.
  • If your opponent's "PFR" (Pre-Flop Raise percentage) is low, it's likely that their hand range for raising pre-flop is very tight. Therefore, if they do raise, you can assume they might have a strong hand.

Important Information

  • Since the HUD is based on the player's past statistics, data from a short period may not be reliable. By accumulating data over the long term, more accurate information can be obtained.
  • When using a HUD, it's important to be cautious not to rely too heavily on the tool. The ability to comprehensively assess the real-time game situation and the opponent's actions is also crucial.

Examples of Term Usage

"When you look at this player's HUD, you can see that their VPIP is 40%, which is quite high, indicating that they're playing loosely pre-flop."
