In-position (IP)

Basic Definition

In-position (IP) refers to a position in poker where you act after the other players. It is the opposite of out-of-position (OOP). This position is considered strategically advantageous, especially in heads-up or post-flop situations, because you can make your decisions after observing your opponent's actions.

Specific Situation

• When you are seated on the button (BTN) and your opponent is in the big blind (BB), you will be in position post-flop.
• After the flop, when your opponent checks and you have the option to bet or check, you can leverage the advantage of being in position to adopt a flexible strategy based on your opponent's actions.

Important Information

• In position, you can observe your opponent's actions before making your move, which increases the success rate of bluffs and value bets.
• However, even though you're in position, be cautious not to continue playing with overly weak hands, as it can lead to significant losses.
