Just Call

☆☆

Basic Definition

In poker, a "just call" refers to the decision to call rather than raise, even when you have a very strong hand or a completed hand.

Specific Situation

  • If the flop is KdQsTc and your hand is AcJh, completing the nut straight, you might choose to just call instead of raising when your opponent bets, potentially extracting more chips.

Important Information

  • Overusing just calls can cause you to miss out on value and ultimately lead to losses. Be sure to assess when to use them.

Examples of Term Usage

"I had the nuts on the flop, but I chose the strategy of just calling because I thought I could extract more value on the later streets."
