Last Aggressor
Basic Definition
The last aggressor refers to the player who made the final aggressive action (a bet or a raise) in the previous betting round. This concept is important when determining future actions and overall game flow.
Specific Situation
- If Player A raises pre-flop and the other players call, Player A is the last aggressor.
- If everyone checks on the flop, the player who was the last aggressor pre-flop continues to hold that role.
Important Information
- The last aggressor is often expected to take the lead post-flop and commonly maintains initiative through bluffs or continuation bets (C-bets).
- Being the last aggressor tends to represent hand strength to opponents, making it a strategically advantageous position. However, excessive aggression can sometimes backfire.
Examples of Term Usage
"I raised on the flop and I’m currently the last aggressor, so I plan to keep betting on the turn."
