Low Jack (LJ)

★★★LowJack, LJ

Basic Definition

Lojack (LJ) refers to a specific position at the poker table. It is the position immediately before the hijack (HJ) and is typically used in ring games with six or more players.

Specific Situation

  • In a six-player table, the lojack position is the same as under the gun (UTG). For example, if you are sitting in the lojack position, you will be the first player to act.
  • At a nine-player table, the lojack is in the under-the-gun+3 position, offering more freedom of action compared to positions closer to the blinds, but careful decision-making is required as it is considered a middle position.

Important Information

  • In poker, the hijack position is considered an "early position" or "middle position," so it's recommended to play with a tight hand range. Starting with a weak hand makes it difficult to handle raises or actions from subsequent players.
  • In a six-player table, it's important to understand the significance of position and adopt the right strategy, as you will be the first to act.

Examples of Term Usage

"I opened from the hijack with KcQc, but then the player on the button 3-bet me, and I was in a dilemma."
