Low pocket
Basic Definition
A low pocket refers to a pocket pair in poker that consists of relatively low-ranking numbers (usually 2 to 6). While these hands have the potential to become strong depending on the board after the flop, they can be vulnerable in certain situations.
Specific Situation
If your hand is
and the flop is

, your pair is still valid on the board, but other players might have a higher pair or a set.
If your hand is
and the flop is

, you have completed a set (three of a kind), which becomes a very strong hand.
Important Information
- With a low pocket pair, there is about a 12% chance of hitting a set on the flop, and playing with the aim of hitting a set is a common strategy.
When high-ranking cards appear on the board, the value of low pocket cards rapidly decreases, so you need to play carefully.
Examples of Term Usage
"I decided to fold my low pocket
because I didn't hit a set on the flop."
