Made hand

Basic Definition

A made hand in poker refers to a hand that is already complete. It means the hand is determined after the flop, and there is no need to wait for additional cards.

Specific Situation

  • When the flop is AK7 and your hole cards are AK, you have a made hand of two pair.
  • When the flop is 259 and your hole cards are 86, you have a straight draw, but since the hand is not complete, it is not a made hand.

Important Information

  • Made hands are generally considered stronger than draws (hands that are not yet complete) because they are essentially finished.
  • Made hands also have varying strengths. For example, a weak made hand like one pair can still lose if the opponent has outs.

Examples of Term Usage

"I made a top pair as a made hand on the flop, but the opponent might have completed a flush on the turn."
