Glossary
Monster draw
Basic Definition
A monster draw refers to a powerful draw with a large number of outs (cards needed to complete your hand). This typically applies in situations where multiple flush draws or straight draws overlap.
Specific Situation
With a flop of JT4 and a hand of Q9, you have both a flush draw (spades) and an open-ended straight draw, giving you a lot of outs.
With a flop of 873 and a hand of 9T, you have both a heart flush draw and a straight draw, offering a large number of outs.
Important Information
Monster draws are powerful, but if they don't complete, you might not win. Therefore, it's important to carefully calculate your bet size and pot odds when playing.
Leveraging the potential of a monster draw, actively attempting semi-bluffs can be strategically effective. However, it's important to adapt flexibly based on your opponent's actions.
Examples of Term Usage
"I got a monster draw on the flop, so even if it doesn't complete by the turn, I plan to keep applying pressure with a semi-bluff."
