Muck

★★

Basic Definition

In poker, "muck" refers to discarding your hand without revealing it. This is typically done when you fold or after a showdown when the outcome has been decided and you choose not to show your hand.

Specific Situation

In a showdown, if your opponent reveals a stronger hand than yours, you can muck your hand without showing it to conceal information.

I bluffed with a weak hand like a 9-high, but my opponent called, so I prioritized hiding my information and mucked my cards since there was little chance of winning.

Important Information

By using the "muck" strategy, you gain the strategic advantage of not revealing your hand information to your opponent. This prevents them from reading your play style.

Once a card is mucked, it generally cannot be reviewed during the game. Please be careful not to accidentally muck a strong hand.

Examples of Term Usage

"At the showdown, my opponent's hand was already stronger than mine, so I mucked my hand and decided to focus on the next game."
