Nit

☆☆

Basic Definition

In poker, a "nit" refers to a player with a very tight playing style. This type of player only participates with strong hands and tends to avoid risk as much as possible.

Specific Situation

  • Players who only participate with very strong hands like AsAd or KhKc are considered tight players.
  • Knit players tend to fold excessively pre-flop.

Important Information

  • Since tight players fold frequently, you need to be cautious in pots they participate in. Their actions usually suggest a strong hand.
  • Knit's playstyle is easy to predict, but using too many bluffs against them can actually increase the risk.

Examples of Term Usage

"This player is a total nit. If they 3-bet preflop, it's almost certainly a monster hand."
