Original Raiser
★★☆Original
Basic Definition
The original raiser refers to the player who first raised pre-flop.
Specific Situation
- If everyone folds pre-flop and the action comes to the button, and the player on the button raises, this player is the original raiser.
- If the UTG (Under the Gun) raises and then another player raises afterward, the UTG player who raised first is the original raiser.
Important Information
- The original raiser often becomes the aggressor and frequently makes the first post-flop bet, known as a "C-bet." This strategy allows them to indicate to their opponent that they have a strong hand.
- The amount the original raiser bets pre-flop and their position make it easier to guess what kind of hand they might have. The position of the original raiser is especially important.
Examples of Term Usage
"Since UTG is the original raiser, let's just fold this hand."
