Basic Definition

In poker, "position" refers to where a player is seated at the table in relation to the dealer button. This position determines the order of actions and significantly influences strategy. Positions are referred to by specific names like "under the gun" and "cutoff," as well as broader categories such as "early position," "middle position," "late position," and "blinds."

Specific Situation

• The button (BTN) has the advantage of being able to act last post-flop, allowing you to make decisions after observing the actions of other players.
• In the case of the big blind (BB), you need to place the blind pre-flop in advance, but in return, you get to act last. However, post-flop, you must act immediately after the small blind (SB).

Important Information

• The late position (especially the button) is the most advantageous, as you can decide your actions after observing your opponents, allowing for aggressive play.
• Early positions (such as UTG) are the most disadvantageous, as you need to take action without knowing what the later players will do. Therefore, it is recommended to play with stronger hands.
