Basic Definition
"Preflop" refers to the initial betting round before the flop is revealed. In this round, each player looks at their own hand (hole cards) and decides on their action before the community cards (flop) are dealt. It is sometimes abbreviated as "PF." In contrast, the rounds after the flop is revealed are called "postflop."

When you are in the button position and your hand is
