Reentry
Basic Definition
Re-entry refers to the act of re-entering and participating again in a poker tournament after being eliminated (losing all your chips). Typically, you can rejoin the same tournament by paying the entry fee again.
Specific Situation
If you go all-in with
in a tournament and lose your chips to an opponent with
, you can pay the entry fee and re-enter the same tournament during the re-entry period.
If you are disqualified just before the re-entry period for the tournament ends, you can choose to re-enter as a last chance and try again.
Important Information
The timing for re-entry varies for each tournament, and there is usually a "re-entry period" established. Once this period has passed, re-entry is not allowed.
Whether or not to re-enter should be decided by considering the number of remaining participants and your own budget. Repeatedly re-entering excessively could lead to exceeding your budget.
Examples of Term Usage
"I might try participating again since the re-entry period is still open."
