Re-steal
Basic Definition
In poker, "re-stealing" refers to making a re-raise against a steal (a raise aimed at taking the opponent's blinds). This strategy is mainly used in tournaments, leveraging the possibility that the opponent's steal is made with a weak hand to apply pressure.
Specific Situation
When the opponent open-raises from the button, go all-in to resteal.
If you feel that the small blind is attempting a small steal, try reraising and restealing with
when you're in the big blind.
Important Information
If a re-steal is successful, you can win a large amount of chips, but if your opponent has a strong hand, you might get countered instead. It's important to carefully read your opponent's range.
If your opponent is very tight and rarely attempts to steal, the success rate of a re-steal is low, so it might be better not to force it.
Examples of Term Usage
"I tried to resteal from the big blind against a steal from the button, but my opponent had
and it didn't work out."
