Side pot
★★☆
Basic Definition
A side pot refers to an additional pot created separately from the main pot when a player goes all-in and other players bet more chips than that amount. The side pot is contested among the players other than the one who went all-in.
Specific Situation
- Player A went all-in with a 100-point bet, but Player B and Player C each bet 200 points. In this case, a total of 300 points, consisting of 100 points from each player's bet, goes into the main pot, while the remaining 200 points form a side pot contested between Player B and Player C.
Important Information
- A player who goes all-in competes only for the main pot and does not participate in the side pot. Only players who have contributed to the side pot can win it.
- There may be cases where multiple side pots are created. In such instances, it's necessary to accurately calculate and distribute each pot.
Examples of Term Usage
"After Player A went all-in, a side pot was formed among the other players, so I decided I had an incentive to go for that side pot."
