Small Blind (SB)

★★★

Basic Definition

The small blind (SB) refers to the chips that must be paid compulsorily before a round of poker begins. This position is located immediately to the left of the dealer button, and the amount is usually set at about half of the big blind (BB).

Specific Situation

  • If you have AhKs in the small blind, you have the option to play aggressively because, despite being in a disadvantageous position, it's a strong hand.

Important Information

  • The small blind is at a significant disadvantage because it has to act first. This requires careful hand selection.
  • Considering the mandatory blinds, it's common to fold weak hands in the small blind, but sometimes aggressive play is necessary depending on the situation.

Examples of Term Usage

"I wanted to participate from the small blind, but I folded because my position was bad."
