Split

★★

Basic Definition

A split in poker refers to a situation where multiple players have the same hand, resulting in no clear winner, and the pot is divided equally or appropriately. This occurs as a result of a tie and is also known as a split pot.

Specific Situation

  • With the board showing 4h2dQsJcTh, Player A holding AsKc, and Player B holding AdKh, both players have completed a straight, resulting in the pot being split.
  • With the board showing 9h9d4s4c2h, Player A holding AsKh, and Player B holding AdQc, both players use the board pairs to make two pair with an Ace high, resulting in a split pot.

Important Information

  • A split is determined not only by the strength of the hand but also by comparing the high cards. A split occurs only when the hands and kickers are the same.
  • In the case of a split pot, any odd chips are distributed to the player in the worse position.
