SPR

Basic Definition

SPR (Stack-to-Pot Ratio) refers to the ratio obtained by dividing a player's remaining stack (chip amount) by the pot size in poker. It is considered an important metric, especially when determining post-flop strategy, and is used to understand the balance between stack size and pot size.

Specific Situation

• When the pot is 100 at the end of the pre-flop and your stack is 500, the SPR is 500 ÷ 100 = 5.
• When the pot is 200 at the end of the pre-flop and your stack is 200, the SPR is 1.

Important Information

• When the SPR is low (around 1 to 3), it becomes easier to go all-in or make large bets post-flop. Conversely, when the SPR is high (8 or more), hands with lower playability need to be played cautiously.
• Understanding the relationship between hand strength and SPR is important. For example, when the SPR is low, even a top pair is considered a strong hand, but when the SPR is high, it should be handled with caution.
