Suited, Suited hand

Glossary

Suited, Suited hand

Basic Definition

In poker, "suited" refers to a hand where the two cards are of the same suit. A suited hand is more valuable than an off-suit hand (cards of different suits) of the same rank because it has the potential to form a flush.

Specific Situation

  • If your hand is AK, this hand is suited and has the potential to make a flush.
  • If your hand is 78, this hand is also suited, and there is a slight possibility of a straight flush.

Important Information

  • Suited hands have a higher potential for a flush compared to offsuit hands, improving playability post-flop. However, it's important not to be overly confident, as you won't always make a flush.
  • Suited hands, especially when they are connectors (cards of consecutive ranks), have the potential for both straights and flushes, making them more powerful.

Examples of Term Usage

"Suited connectors like JT pre-flop have the potential to aim for a big pot post-flop."
