Suited connector

★★★

Basic Definition

A suited connector refers to a hand where the cards are of the same suit and have consecutive numbers. Examples include 7h8h or TdJd. This type of hand is advantageous for aiming for a straight or a flush.

Specific Situation

  • If your hand is 9sTs and the flop is QsJs2h, there's a possibility for both a flush draw and a straight draw.
  • With a hand of 5c6c and a flop of 7c8h4h, you have completed a straight and also have a backdoor flush possibility.

Important Information

  • Small suited connectors (e.g., 3d4d) can be risky. Even if you complete a flush or straight, there's a chance someone else will complete a stronger flush or straight.

Examples of Term Usage

"When I saw the flop with suited connectors, I had a straight draw, so I aimed for a check-raise on the turn."
