VPIP
★★☆
Basic Definition
VPIP (Voluntarily Put money In Pot) refers to the percentage of times a player voluntarily puts chips into the pot. In other words, it is a statistic that indicates the participation rate through raises or calls pre-flop.
Specific Situation
- When you join the game with a raise from UTG (Under the Gun), VPIP is recorded.
- If you check against a limp in the big blind (BB), it is not included in VPIP.
Important Information
- Players with a high VPIP tend to be "loose" and play many hands. Conversely, players with a low VPIP tend to be "tight" and only play a select few hands.
- VPIP is an indicator used to understand a player's tendencies, and it is particularly useful when using a HUD (Heads-Up Display). However, since it's difficult to fully grasp a player's style with just VPIP, it's common to analyze it in combination with other stats like PFR and AF.
Examples of Term Usage
"This opponent has a VPIP of 40%, so it seems like they're playing quite loosely."
